2011.05.31 Tuesday

Well, I knew this would happen, but I still fell for it. It really feels like a Monday, but it is already Tuesday. The weekend is that much closer already. Yay.

Went to the gym over lunch. Things are getting pretty good.

After work, took care of things as usual. I watched some streaming video of NASA moving Shuttle Atlantis out to the launch pad. This is the last shuttle that will be used. That's it.

Eventually went out to Plucker's with some friends. They were going out to the lakehouse afterwards, unfortunately I have to work early tomorrow.

Played a little counter-strike source before bed.

2011.05.30 Monday - Memorial Day

The day started off slightly slow for me. Just trying to wake up.

First up for the day, a quick run over to HEB for fun-day supplies and food.

Back at home, I relaxed a bit with some CS:S, then started getting things ready. To start, I prepared some homemade guacamole, which included:
  • 3 avocados
  • a red onion
  • a roma tomato
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 3 medium-small limes
  • 1 anaheim pepper
  • 1 handful bunch of homegrown cilantro
  • a hefty helping of sea salt
  • a dash of cayenne pepper
I used a food processor for the veggies (not the avocados) and still cried like a baby because of the onion.

Next up, bacon-wrapped hotdogs. This recipe is rather simple: take strips of bacon and spiral down the dog, put a toothpick (or dowel rod) through the ends to hold the bacon on. Then grill. Remove the sticks before eating.

Went over to Taylor's apartment complex to grill and feast on good eats (hey, that's also a good show). We tried playing volleyball on the court, but it was unbelievably hot. I then spent a good 30-45 minutes hosing down the sand with some water to cool it off some. It kind of worked. Fun was had.

Back at home, unpacked and showered.

Quick trip over to my parents house. My dad made some strawberry pie. I had two slices. My grandma also made some of her special recipe of party mix that I very much enjoy, so I took a bag home with me.

2011.05.29 Sunday

Here is a great way to start off the day:

I decided to change things up today and go for an early morning run. By early, I mean like 10am. Ran for a couple miles. Woot.

For lunch, I grilled up some chicken for maximum protein intake. One of the chicken pieces I smothered in Sriracha Sauce; it turned out tasting awesome. Took a hefty nap after eating.

For the evening, I went over to Benihana's to celebrate Korey's b-day. They changed up a few things for the performance, but the classic onion volcano was still there. Post-dinner, went over to Kelc's Dad's house to play some board games, fly paper airplanes.

Home, games, sleep.

2011.05.28 Saturday

Slept in and woke up with a headache. Not sure why.

I took yesterday off from working out, so I worked out with equipment at the house. Got a slight glaze of sweat going from the increased blood flow. Ate the last chunk of chicken left-overs.

Then I got hungry pretty soon after that, and made a quick trip over to chik-fil-a. Not only is that a good combination of fat/protein/carbs, but they will also be closed tomorrow so I kind of have to go.

Discovery Channel was having a Mythbusters marathon. Why can't this happen more often?

I went over to Kelc's for some of the evening. We watched a Quentin Tarantino film called Four Rooms. Well, technically I can't call it just a "Quentin Tarantino film" because it is a movie with four directors, one for each room/story. Pretty good, but different.

Back to my place for games with friends.

2011.05.27 Friday - Dredg Concert

Slept in, because why not?

Played a bunch of games for most of the day. Ate some extra chicken that was leftover from last night. Gotta keep up the protein intake right? Played games most of the day and took it easy.

Went over to Kelc's for a bit, then we decided to test our luck at a concert downtown : Dredg at Emo's, with The Dear Hunter, Balance And Composure, and The Trophy Fire. The two opening bands that we saw were pretty good. Dredg played a wide variety of their songs, and played them well. The crowd actually seemed rather small. Not sure why.

Met up with people at Maggie Mae's after. Josh, Josh, Josh, Chris, Fred, Matt, Kalen, Brittani. Not enough Joshes.

2011.05.26 Thursday

I slept right through the radio part of the alarm, and grumpily awake to the beep. Oh how I despise the beep.

Around lunch-time, I went to the gym and lifted weights. Seems like the soreness factor from workouts has already dropped. Maybe that is a sign to increase the weight already. Maybe not.

Post-workout, went to the cafeteria where our company was having a bake sale. By the time I arrived at the table to purchase something, there was only one strip of chocolate-covered bacon left. Awesome.

Once home, I planned out a run. I ended up running over 2 miles non-stop, 2.6 miles total. I think right around the 1.5-mile mark my body finally starts pumping out endorphins. That needs to happen a lot sooner, in my opinion.

I cooked up / grilled up / baked up ? some chicken breasts, ate leftover pesto pasta, and leftover taquitos for dinner. My body is craving calories.

2011.05.25 Wednesday

Welp, today is going to be a resting and stretching day. It is important to maintain flexibility with muscles, and also let them repair themselves, right?

To start the day, radio alarm with Pumped Up Kicks. Great.

Post work, I tended to my plants. I did some transplanting, thorough waterings, and also changed the pots so the catch tray at the bottom is flipped over. Maybe this will keep the roots slightly cooler in the summer, but more importantly I'll get better drainage if I happen to over-water.

A package came in for me. Took a while, but I got a pretty good deal. I bought a hard drive dock. Now I can do something with that extra 300GB sitting around.

For dinner tonight, I decided to finally make some pesto. Plucked some fresh leaves from my basil plants, a dash of olive oil, tons of garlic and a sprinkling of pine nuts went into the food processor... out came a green goop of deliciousness. I cooked up some bowtie pasta to go along with it. The garlic really made it have a kick.

I spent a good chunk of the evening in the kitchen. I finished up dinner and cleaning some, then started frying up some bacon for my famous chocolate-covered-bacon. I feel like the bacon is coming out a lot better these days. The trick is to manage the temperature and start off with a fair amount grease.

Most of the evening was complimented with some Mythbusters.

Off to bed later than I had wanted.

2011.05.24 Tuesday

Adding the gym into my daily routine yesterday is coming back to haunt me. Oh the memories of waking up completely exhausted.

Around lunchtime, I went over to the gym at work and worked on my back/bicep muscle workouts. I used yesterday's experience of using light weight and still being really sore, so today I tried to back off even more with the weights. Overall, I still worked out for a good 45-60 mins.

I then went to the cafeteria and got an awesome sandwich. Toasted turkey sub, with lettuce, red onions, avocado, jalapeƱos, deli mustard and a dash of salt and pepper. Delicious. Maybe my appetite is back because my body is craving nutrients.

After work, I did something slightly crazy. I went running. Yeah, that's working out twice in one day. I went the same route I have been going these last few times, but Habs let me try out his heart-rate monitor. I peaked at 196 bpm, but was usually around 185-190 during my trek. Every time I've taken this route so far, I run the first mile, then have to start taking breaks. Well today I only took a couple of small breaks, and I'm not getting a weird discomfort in my stomach when I try to breathe (and no, it's not one of those running cramps). Progress is being made! Just to give an idea of what speed I run, it takes me about 10 minutes to do 1.1 miles.

Cooked up some chicken for dinner. Tended to my plants. I felt like I couldn't eat enough, since I have been using up so much energy.

Also had a hard time falling asleep.

Monday, May 23, 2011

2011.05.23 Monday

I let my first alarm go on for a lot longer than normal. I have it such that my first alarm is the radio, then the second alarm is the loud beeper as a backup. (Supposedly this is why most alarm clocks have dual alarm settings.) Well the radio didn't treat me too well this morning. First up, Tighten Up. Feel like I've heard that song above a normal amount. Secondly, some rather dumb discussions about spray-on tanning. Then thirdly, Social Distortion came on the radio. I had to end it there.

Work went by a lot smoother than previous weeks. I also added in some time at the gym. It's been like 8+ months since I last lifted any weights.

After work, did the norm and took care of plants. I managed to eat some meat for added protein. Then left to go hang out with the family. My brother bought himself a nice new bed set. It feels like a new hotel bed, in my opinion.

Then spent some time with Kelc at her house. She is planning on taking a trip to Arlington soon, so I won't see her for a few days.

Went shopping for a few items, then home, then sleep.

2011.05.22 Sunday

Ah yes, the 12+ hr sleep. Good stuff.

I played around with CS:S some, finished up some ACL stuff, and took a few minutes reading up the differences between subversion and Git. Sure, it's slightly nerdy. Some people say Git will be replacing svn as the standard, but I'm not so sure. If you don't know what either of those things are: they are version control systems. Let's say you are working on lots of files in a project; with a version control system you can set up snapshots of milestones, or make sure you have the latest and greatest files (useful if there are lots of people working on the same thing).

Kelc came over and slept. I went for a long run. I feel like I might be getting better at running, but I'm still not even close to running a 5k without taking a break.

Cooked up a dinner of randomness: beef with cilantro, leftover potatoes, chicken taquitos, and a can of mushroom soup.

Watched a smallville or two, then bed time.

2011.05.21 Saturday

Well, today's plans fell through. The family decided that restaurants and roads were going to be too crazy because of UT's graduation, so the plans to celebrate my dad's birthday are postponed indefinitely.

I slept in slightly late, then started off the day strong with some Chik-Fil-A. Heck yes, I remembered to go 1 day before I'll get cravings.

Oh hey look, it's May 21st. The supposed day of the start of The Rapture. I'm excited to see if this actually will turn into something.

I looked up more information on ACL stuff. I'm slightly worried that I'll have show conflicts already. I also played games.

I went by HEB in the later evening to pick up things I didn't have on hand for a fancy dinner. Turns out I still forgot something I needed, so I bailed on that idea.

Going to bed without food. I'm not hungry anyways.

2011.05.20 Friday

I fear that every time I type out the title to a post on Friday, that I'll start singing that one song. *shudders*

Work was here, then not. The week wrapped up nicely.

After work, I spent a few hours doing some yardwork. I was up next in the rotation. This time around, I went a little above and beyond the standard duties. To me, it was getting a little unsightly to see dead parts of a bush start to mold over. Also, the weeds seem to be withdrawn from the yard, so I'm not so worried about anything jumping into the potted plants. When all was said and done, things were looking pretty nice. And what do you know... perfect timing too. A nice small shower rolled through in the later evening

Speaking of shower, I went ahead and did that since I worked up quite a sweat.

I spent a chunk of the evening researching bands for ACL. There are quite a few that I don't know much about, but I'm getting more excited about the festival every day. Also had a small jam session with Habs.

Went over to Kelc's to hang out. We went on of our classical Taco C runs. After that, went back to her place to watch the season finale of The Office. I'd have to say that it was one of the better ones I've seen in a long time. And yeah, it was ok not having Steve.

Went home, played some games while enjoying adult beverages. The gaming took a noticeable performance hit rather quickly. Sleepy time.

2011.05.19 Thursday

Waking up today felt different. Not sure how to explain it, but it just didn't feel like the grumpiness I have grown accustomed to.

Post-work, I started digging into ACL research; trying to figure out what bands I should try to listen to, and ones that I already know I want to go see. There are quite a few to sift through.

Went out for a late dinner with Kelc to McCormick's and Schmicks. She ordered the Lehi fish; I chose the Filet Mignon. I'm going to have to say that the steak was rather small, but cooked properly. Probably not the best way to spend that money, but at least I didn't have to do any cooking.

Home, then asleep early.

2011.05.18 Wednesday - A post to rule them all

It may be hard to believe, but this is my 1,000th blog entry. I find it hard to believe that so much time has gone by so quickly. I'd like to take a moment of silence to reflect on the thousand entries.

Alright, so today was filled with more running around at work. By the end of the day, I felt drained.

Kelc and I were supposed to go to a restaurant, but I really just did not feel up to doing anything. Instead, I took care of my plants (tomato plant is doing rather nicely, basil is growing like crazy), then just sat around. Eventually Kelc came over and we watched a Smallville, then went to bed.

Just to write this down as a record, we just watched Season 7 Episode 10, titled "Persona". That is the 142nd episode out of 217 total. (65.4% complete)

2011.05.17 Tuesday

Grog. Went to sleep late and ran yesterday. Easily caught up to me.

Work was more interesting than normal. Things are in a state of flux. Also, we had an ice cream social. It made me sleepy.

Arrived at home later than normal. Took care of my plants. Kelc wanted to do something fun, but we couldn't think of anything, so we didn't.

I played some games and did things around the house. Then went to bed. Pretty plain day.

2011.05.16 Monday

Three day weekends start off feeling like they will last a long time, but by Sunday night it feels like barely anything happened, then Monday it feels like work is just awkward and unexpected.

I woke up before my alarm and continued to toss and turn. I couldn't really figure out what was keeping me up, and then I figured it out... Kelc was twitching. Guess I shouldn't have sprayed Raid in her dinner. lol, i kid.

After work I decided to go for a run. I planned a spot I wanted to run to, and then ran there. I didn't plan the return run, so that was more of an adventure. I took random streets that were in the right direction (according to the sun) and eventually ended up at home. Overall the trip was about 2.3 miles. It would have been more impressive had I ran the entire time.

I fixed a protein shake and worked on my plants once I arrived at home. My last remaining tomato plant looks promising with a handful of tomatoes growing on it, but I fear that the summer heat may kick in and I will miss the opportunity to enjoy some more tomatoes. Okra plant is getting huge. I also need to figure out the best way to harvest basil, and make some guacamole this weekend with the cilantro.

Played a few computer games, cooked up a simple dinner of potatoes, watched a smallville, then sleep.

Sunday, May 15, 2011

2011.05.15 Sunday

Woke up somewhat late, didn't get that much sleep. Kelc had to leave early for work, and took half of the people home. I had to clean up and take the remaining home.

Stopped by the parents's to pick up mail and things, helped moved some furniture. Just spent some time hanging out.

Back at home I took care of laundry and took a much needed shower. Listened to some RadioLab and played Minecraft and CS:S.

For dinner, we had tilapia and mac+cheese. I managed to get Kelc to season and cook her own fish. Well done.

Watched a few Smallville and called it a night. (On a side note, we didn't make it to the series finale, but we put in a good effort)

2011.05.14 Saturday

Woke up late. That was to be expected, going to bed so late.

The day is planned to be a celebration of two birthdays. To start, we wen to Milburn park to play sand volleyball. I remember how awesome sand volleyball is, and how I used to play with Moore-Hill people on Friday afternoons. That was great until I punctured my foot on a stick and it became infected. Anyways...

Post volleyball we stopped by Sonic for refreshing beverages. After that, we went over to Fred's house to play a game of diplomacy. It is a board game that involves controlling land and armies in and around Europe, and striving for domination. I felt like I wasn't explained the rules very well, so I was off to a shaky start. Then Kelc was knocked out, and I managed to survive until the very last round. Go figure.

I stopped by home to grab a quick snack and take care of my plants. I ended up plucking two tomatoes and eating one of them. Yum. I also saved some of the seeds from it. Maybe I can get something going for fall or next year.

I missed my chance to play Vennis, but met up at Plucker's. Coincidentally, Ray and Marisa were also there enjoying a dinner. The meal took longer than expected. Service was unusual.

Drove out to the lakehouse for more fun, but most people ended up falling asleep rather quickly. I played a few games of pool, chatting, then sleeping.

Friday, May 13, 2011

2011.05.13 Friday

A day off.

Most of the day was spent doing a lot of nothing. Cleaned up the house a bit to get ready for the gathering this evening. Kelc ended up being called in to work for the evening, so I played games and sat around most of the day. Trying to conserve energy for later.

Then the party started. Lots of friends showed up that I haven't seen in a while. I let a girl "borrow" some Advil, and she ended up taking my bottle... never got that back. It had like 20 capsules left. Thanks person. The numbers started dwindling around 3am, and by 4am there were just a couple people still around. I also had to let out Maverick because he was whimpering in his crate. I think he might have licked up too much and had to shit all over the backyard. Excuse my french. Overall, I would say that it was a fun filled night. Work people, college people, random people. Oh and Ray showed me a new song he had been working on. It has lots of tempo/beat changes that keeps things on edge.

Eventually I managed to fall asleep.

Thursday, May 12, 2011

2011.05.12 Thursday

BBQ is slowing me down. Guess I'll take it easy for a bit.

Then the rain came down. Hope it isn't overwhelming for my plants. Or my car. Aww hail no.

Work. Then home. Kelc went on an adventure downtown with friends, I was supposed to have a friend over for a jam session, but that fell through. My night was very simple: food, games, relaxing.

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

2011.05.11 Wednesday

Energy levels near depletion. On the plus side, I can't believe it's already hump day. These next few days have lots of things planned out.

Work.

After that, wasted some time around the house by playing CS:S again. Then off to The Salt Lick to celebrate Taylor's birthday. There were over 20 people... crazy large group. Also, completely out of the blue I see my first roommate from college. Jack (or Glenn), his brother and his friend, and a guy that used to live across the hall from us. What are the odds. Ah, those were the days.

Drove home, almost hit a deer. Then pulled over to get some trash cans out of the road, and stalled my car by accident (left it in gear and dropped the clutch while trying to exit the vehicle, silly me).

Didn't take long after getting home to fall asleep. Good food, good times, good memories.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

2011.05.10 Tuesday - Still hope

Well what do you know; the ghost pepper sprout jumped back to life.

My energy levels, however, are starting to creep back down. Guess I didn't get enough food or rest or something. At work, I tried a day without a morning coffee. It went ok. It's not like I have coffee every single day, just the days where I have to be up unnaturally (which one could argue is quite often).

After work, I made sure to check up on the ghost pepper plant. It's looking quite healthy and green now. Maybe, just maybe, this whole ordeal made him stronger. I transplanted him into his new home pot, watered everything some. It really looks like a storm is coming through this evening, so I was a little hesitant to water too much.

Met up with some friends at Plucker's. That was an interesting adventure. People who I've never seen consume a drop of alcohol.. had already finished 4 beers before I arrived. The poor children in the restaurant learned some new words... and that they aren't allowed to use them.

Back home, I worked on a recording and some music analyzing.

To wind down, I played some CS:S. I found out about a week ago that an unofficial map came out called fy_abottabad, which is an attempt at recreating the building/complex where Osama took his last few breaths. Some people might see that as being grotesque to be wanting to simulate a Terrorist/Counter-Terrorist scenario in that location, but I don't see it that way. It's more about trying to understand the situation, and seeing how teamwork strategies work differently against each other. And anyways, CS:S might look like a simulation, but it's not even close to what people would be doing in real life. The level itself is alright. It feels very cramped, so 'nades can be problematic, or good depending on how you use them. -- So IF this is actually a somewhat realistic representation of the compound where he was hiding out, the idea of having no major injuries on our side means our Seals are amazing. Get in, get the objective done, get out. Now, about the argument of right/wrong of killing somebody... that's for someone else to decide.

G'night.

2011.05.09 Monday - Plant Doomsday

Didn't feel like I had much energy when I woke up today. Went to work just like normal. Somewhat a mistake. I acquired some pepper sprouts from Mark on Saturday, and only watered them Saturday night. They went all of Sunday without any attention, and now will be going most of today without attention. Yikes.

On the plus side, we did go out for lunch today to Ichiban. I had the chicken fried rice. Most everybody else had sushi or sushi rolls.

I wrapped up work faster than normal, which wasn't difficult because today has been pretty segmented already.

I arrived at home, sure enough the pepper sprouts did not look good. Also, my upside-down tomato plant committed suicide. The sprouts were in dire need of water. The tomato plant just snapped at the base of the main stem. I guess that breed really does not like being upside down. It did have a 80 degree turn after 5 inches. At least I have one more plant, and can say that I tried an experiment. Maybe next year I'll try another strain.

I cleaned up my room some. Kelc came over later and we started work on learning a song. This might turn into something interesting...

Cooked up a micro dinner of cous cous and hummus, then watched a smallville (or two). They started integrating Super Girl into the story line. I'll just leave this here...

Nighty night.

2011.05.08 Sunday - Mother's Day

Another holiday created by ?? Oh well, good excuse to go out with the family for a nice meal. This year we went to Steiner Ranch Steakhouse.

SRS provides an awesome hill-top overlook of part of the lake. The restaurant itself isn't all that big, so it feels rather intimate and personal, but at the same time it is also styled like how one would imagine a house on a ranch. For mother's day, they brought out an ice sculpture to display at the main entrance. Too bad it was actually hot today, causing the ice to melt all over the floor. The food was excellent, and dessert was amazing.

We stopped by home to get changed, then went over to a storage unit that we've had since my dad's mom passed. We are looking at trying to downsize how much "stuff" we are keeping, if nobody wants it of course. This coming up weekend will be a neighborhood garage sale.

Went back to the house, unloaded stuff. Then played some CoD: Black Ops multiplayer, killing some zombies.

Took a nap, and enjoyed pizza for dinner. Stuck around and chatted with my parents into the late evening.

Home, sleep.

Saturday, May 7, 2011

2011.05.07 Saturday

Well the plan was to go out last night for a birthday party. Around 7-8ish, both Kelc and I fell asleep. Pure exhaustion. I slept about 14 hours. Kelc had work so she was able to get almost 10. Not bad at all.

I maintained the haze that comes with sleeping in for so long. I sat around, listened to some radio shows and played games.

Eventually Mark calls me up to see if I want to go to Costco. Sure, who doesn't want to go to Costco. I ended up getting quite a bit, and a really inexpensive hot dog.

I played some SNES games with Mark. I'm still terrible at Street Fighter. Not much has changed in almost 20 years, lol.

Went home, unpacked all my stuff. Kelc came over and we went out for a late dinner at Z Tejas. Pretty good day.

Friday, May 6, 2011

2011.05.06 Friday

Forgot to set my alarm. Going to be slightly late to work, but on the plus side I got a pretty good amount of sleep.

Work went, well, swimmingly? Things feel like they are picking up and falling apart at the same time.

After work, a wonderful dinner consisting of chik-fil-a. How marvelous.

Kelc met up and we talked about the last few days some. Then ...

2011.05.05 Thursday

I woke up to my alarm today, felt somewhat awake but decided to go back to sleep. Every subsequent time my alarm went off because a tougher challenge to actually get up. Maybe snoozing is the wrong way to go.

Work had its ups and downs. Again, it feels like people would rather talk about the problem than actually put effort towards it. Whatever. Left slightly later than normal.

At home, I got crackin' on some recording. This is my first time recording actual bass guitar. Most of my personal recording either digitally skewed regular guitar down an octave, or was synthetic bass. It turned out to be more challenging than I expected. I was getting some weird clipping and distortion, and after debugging the situation it seems like the microphone might have been too close to the speaker (thus just picking up gusts of air). I moved it from ~9in to ~12-15, and also brought the microphone off-axis to the amps speaker. This seemed to help out a lot, but then I had to pump up the gain in other places. I'm betting this added to the amount of background noise that was being picked up, but I can do some post-processing to bring that down.

Met up with Ryan for a late dinner at ThunderCloud Subs. I have not been there in ages, and it was a good change-up.

After that I went over to Kelc's for her Cinco de Mayo celebration. Unfortunately nobody had arrived yet, so I was able to watch some dance show with Korey. The pizza and guests arrived, then I left.

Played a couple rounds of CS, then went to bed at an early time. I had a hard time wanting to actually get in bed though; felt like I was forgetting something.

2011.05.04 Wednesday

I had a difficult time getting out of bed. Not sure if it's the idea of work, or the lack of sleep, or still being full from eating so much food last night.

Worked a rather long day at work. For those curious, I started to tip-toe close to a half-day mark. Ouch.

Went for a run after work. The plans to drive to Killeen to pick up Kelc's car fell through.

When Habs got home, he and MavDog found a mouse in the backyard. MavDog ended up playing with it some, then snapping bones occasionally. Not a fun sound to hear. I took a few extra steps to go ahead and put the creature/pest out of its misery. Some lucky rodent or animal will likely stumble across the body later, free dessert.

Kelc hung out with friends, I hung out with myself then went to bed.

2011.05.03 Tuesday - Last class day

Some days, it just really feels like I should not be getting out of bed. Today is one of those days.

Work was slightly intense. I feel like a good chunk of time is wasted by discussing the problem, rather than actually doing the problem. Hmm, that sounds familiar doesn't it? *cough* politics *cough*

Before I knew it, class time was upon us. The 4 of us in Austin enjoyed our pizzas. Our last class was mostly discussion and review of what we learned over the semester. This last class made me feel like I actually learned a few things, but I'm not sure how I will be applying what I learned. That's the gap I need to jump. At least we don't have any final.

Home, played some L4D2 with Mark and Habs. We did Dark Carnival on expert with a pretty decent random guy. We all made it to the Finale, but only one walked out alive.

Then I went for a late night trip to Plucker's to meet up with some of Kelc's group of friends. That place stays open late with barely any traffic.

2011.05.02 Monday

Starting off this week with unsteady ground. I could have used more sleep, but I get carried away with things once evening rolls around.

Work was interesting. Things got a bit heated, but thinking back it seems silly to get worked up like that. I mean really, is getting emotional about something going to fix a problem? Probably not. Relax people.

After the longer-than-normal day at work, I went home. I tried out a demo planetary simulator to crash some interstellar objects into each other. The game normally costs about 10 dollars, but I'm glad I tried out the demo before buying. The interface is "ok" at best. The novelty wears off rather quickly. I don't think it would be 10 dollars well spent for me. But who knows, maybe it's your kind of thing.

Made a phone call, then on my way to getting a hair cut. Not just one hottie, but Too Hotties. I always enjoy their service.

Back home, watched an episode of Smallville without Kelc. Uh oh. I'm going to be in trouble for that. Counter-Strike, then bed.

2011.05.01 Sunday

The month is starting on a Sunday. That means there will be a Friday that is also numerically the 13th. Is that weird how that works? Is it magical? Who knows.

I woke up super late today. I decided I wanted to stay awake and play CounterStrike late at night. I had to be careful because Kelc was trying to sleep. I used headphones, but I was also talking to a microphone. I think I confused her a few times with that.

So for the past couple days or so, I feel like I've been coming down with some sort of allergic response. My lips are swelling and are sensitive, my eyes are swelling and itchy, and my ears feel like burning. Not again... something is happening that is triggering this, but I don't think it is food related.

Kelc worked some today, then left for Michigan with her brother.

I didn't really eat a lunch, then cooked up a simple pasta dinner. Watched Liar Liar while I ate.

The weather is nice and cool outside. Me thinks I'll get some fresh air in the house.

2011.04.30 Saturday

Woke up pretty late today. I actually wasn't sure what this day was going to entail. Kelc had to work an early shift, FREEDOM.

I started off by digging through some old files and things. I have a handful of projects that have slowly faded into the background since I've gotten more busy with work, school, and sports. Will I resurrect them? Well, maybe. There are a few music projects that I still want to do, but I find it hard to get myself to do anything that resembles practicing.

Later on, I decided it would be a good time to go ahead and try to capture the field mouse in the garage. There have been a few times when I turned on the lights and the little bugger darts across the floor, and shoots out the tiny hole next to the overhead doors. And now lately, I've been hearing rustling around the lawnmower. Not cool. Habs joined in the fun... we moved just about everything and designed a pretty cool "humane" trap with a box. In the process of finding out where exactly this little guy is hiding, we found out that there were actually two mice. Fun... could have babies at any moment. -- At the end of it all, we caught (and later released) one, and the other one got away.

Quick trip over to sears to check out some equipment. Prices are both crazy good and crazy bad. Found some nifty clips that attach to the side of the mattress that help hold sheets in place. I personally don't like when the fitted sheet comes loose and bunches up underneath me while I'm trying to sleep. I'll write up a review on this after I get to try them out.

I finished up cleaning the garage and straightening things up. You would probably be surprised at how much poop comes out of tiny little mice. It's weird how there isn't a lot of things that happen in the garage, but it still manages to get dirty with debris. I also took care of a nasty hornet nest near the front door. I wonder how long that had been there...

Kelc got off of work. She was a darling and blessed me with Chik-fil-a for dinner. That's two times in one weekend.

We watched a couple episodes of Smallville, and then it was bedtime.
