2010.01.27 Wednesday

Humple Dumple Dizzle Day.

Went out for lunch with Rudy to *cue drum roll...* J2! It was pretty epic. It's probably been a couple years since I've been there; some things have changed but it's mostly the same. They are trying new things to go "green", which i commend, but I don't see it as being that beneficial.

After work I went home and goofed around for a bit. Made some hamburger helper and cleaned up the kitchen. It's not that difficult to do, but the difficult part for me is understanding why it's hard for other people. And I'm not trying to bash my roomates, they are all really cool guys, it's just like a generation of people that should probably check out the show Dirty Jobs, and be grateful for a lot (and hopefully be inspired to be a little more hard working).

Worked on some music. This new project is very exciting. Maybe I should hold back the excitement though; last time I was really excited about the song and by the end of it I just never felt like really working hard on it. Oh well.

2010.01.26 Tuesday

Yep, working out yesterday definitely makes it harder to wake up, and the soreness doesn't help.

Did some back and bicep workouts on my own.

Did some errand running after work, and before I knew it, the day was over.

2010.01.25 Monday

Back in the grind. Work is picking up. Starting to feel like the project I'm working on has some big holes in it, but I guess that also means it has opportunity.

Worked out my chest and triceps hardcore, with some lunges and calf raises added. I did chest/arm exercises from vertical all the way to about 40 degrees decline, for a rough total of 120 reps. Plus some just-tricep reps. Pretty sure I'm going to be feeling this tomorrow.
Home later than usual. Dinner is a BBQ Chicken pizza. Not bad, but not my favorite. I still don't like sweet barbecue sauce on that many things. If it were more spicy or peppery, it'd be a different story.

Worked on some music. Really close to wrapping up one song, and I've already started on what's next. I'm pretty excited to get this going.

2010.01.24 Sunday

Today, an adventure to lakeside village north of dfw. Interesting development, but not some place I would want to live.

Had some Potbelly's for lunch.

Headed home. Weekend is wrapping up.

2010.01.23 Saturday

Ah yes, sleeping in. One thing that is done very well in Arlington.

Sat around and watched tv for a good portion of the day.

Eventually went over to Josh's to play some Modern Warfare 2. Pretty fun game, even though I suck at FPSs on game systems.

Dinner: Red Lobster. Well sorta, the wait was about an hour and half so we spent some time at the mall. I looked at some sunglasses and was mostly unimpressed, but got some guidelines I know I will look for in other sunglasses. Lindsey was our waiter, totally got hooked up.

Afterward, we watched the Matrix on blu-ray and fell asleep.

2010.01.22 Friday

Ahh got to sleep in today. What shall I do today? Hmm....take care of junk like insurance and paperwork.

Took a shower then headed off to Arlington for the weekend.

Dinner in Arlington: Simply Fondue. Just as I expected, the coupon that Kelcey found for this place was alright, but nothing as spectacular as the final bill. We had a salad (I was the only one that didn't get caesar), cheese fondue (didn't have much of this because it was super-beer flavored), then had our own meat entrees (garlic and jerk chicken were delicious, the peppered beef was just ok), and a bailey's chocolate fondue (the girls scarfed this one down). The place was really emo/vampire designed. I guess that is associated with French, but it was weird being one of the handful of couples there. I agree with the girls on this suggestion: it's a good place to go for a leisure yet fancy dessert.

Afterward, we were considering going out for a movie, but the selection looked rather weak, so we went back and watched I Am Legend on blu-ray. Kelc's new tv displayed the movie quite well. As a snack I ate some of my guacamole. I can't decide if I really like the recipe, or if I've eaten too much in the past week.

Next up, bed time.

2010.01.21 Thursday

I'm already in Friday-mode, mostly because of work. I feel like that's not such a great thing, but also not terrible.

I purchased a new 5 lb bag of macaroni noodles for snacking on at work, but these are much thicker than the previous batch I had. HEB must have changed their equipment or recipe.

Ate some more guacamole for dinner, plus some green beans, and broccoli (plus random things).

Worked on some music again, getting really close to saying 'I'm done.'

Watched a movie in 1080p. Pretty tight.

2010.01.20 Wednesday

Definitely more groggy today.

My teeth are developing more sensitivity to cold liquids. The last time this happened it's because I had dental work for a cavity. It sucks that everything hurt more AFTER I went to the dentist. Not only that, but I don't think they actually fixed the problem. Also, I got into an accident right after that dental visit, so I'm pretty hesitant to want to go back.

Another thing I've been noticing lately, it's starting to feel like everybody around my age is settling into their grooves. Lots of people on facebook have a status of "In A Relationship" or "Engaged to" or "Married to..." and some are even popping out babies. I don't even think I can find any old flings that aren't currently taken. Guess that ship has sailed. Not that it's a bad thing...

Made some guacamole at home.
-diced two roma tomatoes
-diced half red onion
-4 cloves of garlic minced
-1 handful of cilantro leaves
-1 large green pepper diced
-3 hass avocados
-1 lime juiced
-a few tbsp of salt

Turned out to be quite a bit of guacamole. Ive been eating as much as I can every time I'm in the kitchen.

Cleaned up some of my upstairs area. Then started cracking down on some music

2010.01.19 Tuesday

Groggy today.

Worked, went home. Ate a ton of food, a taco, a bushel of asparagus, half of a broccoli crown, two pb&j sandwiches, and some croutons.

Cleaned up things, took care of bidness. Overall a constructive day, but unepic.

2010.01.18 Monday

I still need to get caught up with a lot of things in my life. I'm going to try and focus on that this week, after work of course.

Work went by pretty fast.

Went to the grocery store to stock up on needed food.

Out to Trudy's with friends to have some fun.

2010.01.17 Sunday

Slept in. Time feels shifted again. It's going to be an interesting time this week trying to get back on schedule.

Cowboys played the Vikings today. Playoffs are flying by pretty fast.

Played some Hand'N'Foot and got to hang out with the happy couple.

Vacations go by so fast.

2010.01.16 Saturday - Lake Tahoe

Got up, ate breakfast and went on our way to the airport.

Pretty much spent the whole day traveling. Started reading Robot Dreams by Isaac Asimov. It's a bunch of short stories, sci-fi.

Got home about 10:30pm. Sat around and got some sleep.

2010.01.15 Friday - Lake Tahoe

Sister, brother and I went to Sierra to try our best at snowboarding. I eventually got the hang of it. Ben and Crystal stuck to the beginner slope.

We all got beat up. Totally worth it though. I also went down a really long green run and cruised at about 35mph.

Returned our gear and grabbed our last dinner. Packed up for our trip home tomorrow.

2010.01.14 Thursday - Lake Tahoe

Got up early and went on a snowmobile adventure with the family. The people in front of me kept swirving and it was very difficult to stay on the right track. The views were spectacular though.

Afterwards we checked out the pier again, this time in sunlight. The ducks were out and gulping water.

There was ice growing near our condo. Too thick to break.

2010.01.13 Wednesday - Lake Tahoe

We got about 10 inches of fresh powder on everything. Remarkable.

We went sledding again. Kelc and I built a snow cave-tunnel-loop thing. It was pretty cool. My dad and sister started working on a slope and eventually i jumped in and started building some sweet banks. My brother sister and mom carved out a longhorn in the snow, and Kelc built a snowman.

We all built up our appetite. Went to Harrah's buffet for dinner. I ate soooo much that it was uncomfortable. They also have a really badass arcade underground. Not many like that left in the world.

2010.01.12 Tuesday - Lake Tahoe

Another great view outside. The weather is supposed to pick up the next couple of days, and might not be good for us to go out and do things.

Ventured over to California today. Checked out the casinos that are right along the state line, kinda interesting. I'm starting out strong with losing about 50 bucks.

2010.01.11 Monday - Lake Tahoe

The sunrise was again spectacular.

Today we went and rented some gear to practice snowboarding and skiing, without having to pay for lessons or a lift ticket. Not the greatest idea ever, but a way for some of us to decide whether or not to spend more money and an entire day on some slopes. Snowboarding isn't as hard as i thought it would be, and skiing is a lot harder on the slopes that we tried to practice on.

The valley finally cleared up, snapped a few night pictures of the city.

2010.01.10 Sunday - Lake Tahoe

Well we fell asleep at around 8pm or so, then woke up super early and made breakfast. The sunrise was amazing and the fog over the valley looks insane.

Drove with Kelc down to get some snow booties and checked out the pier. It's weird how gloomy it is down the mountain, but up top everything is clear and happy.

Next up we got some sleds and busted our butts sliding down icy slopes.

Kelc and I tried playing Catan the card game version, and it was alright. I still like the version that we normally play better.

2010.01.09 Satuday - Lake Tahoe

Leaving for Lake Tahoe today. Woke up early to catch an early flight. Slept a total of 2.2 hours before waking up and hopping into a car. Bleh.

Flew to San Diego, then to Reno. I got to Reno just fine; my bag did not. Thanks Southwest for losing just my and my mom's bags. You obviously know how to handle bags because the rest of my family got theirs just fine.

My brother and I got to drive a souped up Chevy Tahoe as a rental. 4WD just in case...ya know?

We ate at In-N-Out for lunch. Yum. Then checked into the condo, picked up some groceries, cooked up some dinner, and chilled. Traveling really takes energy right out of you.

2010.01.08 Friday

Ah a day to kinda veg-out a little bit. Last night was slightly depressing, but also inspiring. Guess not everybody can be winners.

Spent the day packing and doing chores around the house, and getting ready for my departure tomorrow.

Some friends were in town, got to chill some.

Thursday, January 7, 2010

2010.01.07 Thursday

Hump day flew by before I could call it out. UNTIL NEXT TIME you sneaky jerk.

Went to Crawfish Etoufee day, of course. Good times.

It doesn't even feel like the first week of work is over, but it is. I gotta start getting ready for my lake tahoe trip...

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

2010.01.06 Wednesday

Long day at work. Feel like I don't really know much anymore. Guess I have a lot of learning ahead. At least I get a vacation first :-P

Gym again, did some bike and bicep. I'm sore from yesterday's chest and triceps, sucks.

Tortellini for dinner.

Alright so weirdest thing has been happening lately. I've had at least 3 cases of extreme deja vu in the past couple weeks. When I was in New York, there was some time we were in the subway that I swear I've seen before in a dream or something, and we were going the same way we went in the dream. Then this morning I was in a meeting that I had a dream of a long time ago in a conference room that I haven't used before; it was exactly like the dream because I hadn't met some of the people in the meeting yet and I didn't recognize them in my dream. The 3rd scenario of deja vu was later today when I received a box, exactly like a dream. I wonder what is going on.

Played some more Mario RPG. Got to the tadpole part. I should probably fcus on leveling up some more before moving on, since I unexpectedly faced a boss.

2010.01.05 Tuesday

Just one of those days.

Work went by rather quickly.

At home I tried cleaning up my room some, but ended up playing games and watching TV. Dirty Jobs was on, what can you really expect of me?

Trying out some new music stuff too, exciting.

2010.01.04 Monday

Back to work. First day of work in the new year.

Something weird about Mondays. It seems like I'm never really that tired on Mondays because I catch up on sleep or something.

Starting up on a new project. Well, new to me. I'm excited to get my hands dirty with the new stuff.

Tried installing Linpus on my laptop, that failed. Something about the kernel not being able to sync or something. Really would like to get a super-lightweight operating system on there. I heard Microsoft made some XP variant for older hardware...hmmm.

Did some laundry, cleaned up my room, made dinner and smoothies, played mario rpg. I'm at the part where the purple dinosaur guy has malow's coin and we are chasing him. I should probably level up more so the battle is easy.

And great, I'm not that tired and it's past midnight.

2010.01.03 Sunday

Back at home, but doesn't feel like home anymore. Mostly gloomy day outside, I'm out of energy. Spent a good portion of the day catching up on blogs and such. I'm behind with my weekly facebook picture update, so I'll have to think of something special to do for tomorrow.

Kelc brought over some lunch, Firehouse subs. Also spent some of the day being nostalgic and looking into old game systems. Studying Mario trivia so I can be well versed in the world of Mario and Luigi.

That's pretty much how I spent the day. The Christmas break went so fast that I really needed this day to just chill out and goof off.

2010.01.02 Saturday - NYC

Going home from NYC today.

The flights didn't look so good today, so we got split up between two flights. Luckily we got where we needed to be at the end of the day.

First up upon getting back, Taco C! Then some Hand'N'Foot.

Then I went home and unpacked. Long day, mostly wasted waiting.

2010.01.01 Friday - NYC

Fifth Day in NYC. New Year's Day.

Stopped by Grand Central Station to snap a few pictures. Why is this place so clean, but all of the subways underground are so disgusting?

Next up, Battery Park to get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty.

Then 18 miles of books. bleh. Thanks Strand.

M&M store. I don't know how they can say this is the only M&M store and the only M&M wall of candy when Las Vegas has the same thing, and it might even be bigger.

Next up, Rice to Riches. I got Tiramisu with buttery graham cracker, pretty damn good. Kelc got some chocolate with brownie chunks, disgusting. Kelc's mom got eggnogg with toasted coconut, also disgusting.

Then home to pack up and wrap up the trip.

2009.12.31 Thursday - NYC

Fourth Day in NYC. New Year's Eve. It snowed overnight and into the morning, coating everything in a pristine white.

We had to make a snowman. Asparagus nose and cracker eyes, buttons made out of goldfish.

Went back by the Empire State Bldg. Ate some Wendy's, another travesty. Did some shopping, can't really figure out what I should get. Everything seems pricey and silly to get.

Went back to our place for the evening. Nobody is really sure what they want to do for the big drop. Kelc and I just decided to hop on 52nd and walk as far as time will take us, and see what happens. Well we heard a huge countdown crowd and screaming, and saw some explosions in the sky.

The other's stayed inside I think. Lame.

2009.12.30 Wednesday - NYC

Third Day in NYC. Went to times square early. Don't really remember what for, but we walked around and looked at things.

Next up, WTC and nearby mall for lunch. The site of the world trade center is mostly bulldozers and construction stuff. Honestly, that's pretty pathetic that we don't have anything built there yet. 9 years. I think I heard that the empire state building went up in about a year.

Went to sky ride at the Empire State Building. Wasn't exactly worth the wait, but the experience was nice.

For dinner, half went to Q'doba and my half went to Mimi's Itallian Restarant. Thank goodness I did too. Roberta Flack was there soaking in the atmosphere. Chicken Delicious was our entertainment of the evening, quite the spectacle. We got some special treatment because we were from Texas and virgins.

2009.12.29 Tuesday - NYC

Second Day in NYC.

Such a long day yesterday, woke up pretty tired. Took the sub over to central park, but damn was it cold today. The pond we were near was frozen, some people were ice skating, snow piles were around. Brrrr! Didn't take us long to decide to go somewhere else to thaw out.

FAO Schwartz. The largest toy store. Pretty cool, but too many stuffed animals in my opinion. The lego batman was cool. The large piano is cool too.

Went to Pop Burger for lunch. Pretty tight, but a tad pricey. Next up, Museum of Natural History. There were tons of scenes with four legged creatues that look similar to dear. Guess that's all people felt like shooting. All the musical instruments that are from the different people of the world makes me want to make some sort of instrument. Took a pic with Olmec. One part I didn't like was the blatant blaming of climate change on humans. Pretty sure extinction and climate change is natural, and there hasn't been conclusive evidence that humans are at the heart of it so stop feeding the public your agenda. If extinction isn't natural, what happened to the dinosaurs? So what if it is sad, it fits your 'natural selection' model.

Sorry about my rant, but you can't be scientific if you just buy into whatever propaganda you hear.

Next up, dinner at Applebee's. Now that's a tragedy.

2009.12.28 Monday - NYC

Woke up nice and early; off to fly away.

Win. We all made it on the first flight out. Big apple, here we come.

Got to the airport, people were yelling at the baggage claim area. Good start for the trip.

There were a ton of taxis waiting for people, kinda sad but I guess there isn't any subway nearby so the taxis do get used.

Made it to our place, the guy was on his way. I don't really know how the dealings were dealt, but I guess I can't worry about it too much. We have a place to sleep and that's pretty darn valuable in this city (though I don't know why people would want this). We stayed at a place that was the 5th 6th and 7th floors of a "pre-war" town home. 5th floor had 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a master bedroom. 6th floor had a kitchen and dining area, and a living room. 7th floor wasnt much of a floor, just a loft room.

We didn't stay around too long. Ran off to get our metro tickets and start exploring the city. Up first, Rockefeller. We went across the street to Pronto pizza for a quick bite before going up. There was also a huge Christmas tree outside, and a ice skating ring. Went to the top of the rock, a whopping 43 second elevator ride to an excellent view.

Ran over to times square to check out the scene. Things are pretty hectic everywhere. Toy'r'us has a ferris wheel inside. Insane.

We went to Niall's Irish Pub for dinner.

2009.12.27 Sunday - NYC

Spent the day getting my stuff together for NYC. The plan is to drive up to Arlington and spend the night, then get up early to hop over to DFW and fly out. The flights don't look bad, but they look best in the morning.

We fit 4 big suitcases and 4 young adults into a teeny weeny honda civic. Worst ride to Arlington ever. At least we did some gift exchanging once we got there.

2009.12.26 Saturday

Leaving for the big NYC in a few days. Pretty exciting, and at the same time makes me worry that I'm not ready.

Didn't really do that much today. In the evening, I took my brother's new car for a spin and played some games with Kelc's family.

2009.12.25 Friday

Merry Christmas to all!

Went to Houston today to spend the holiday with family.

Lots of food, games, socializing, and of course a long nap to digest food.

My brother also picked up his self-gift from my aunt. Check out facebook for pics...
